graphic descriptions ahead

i slept fitfully. an hour here and hour there. i got up around 4 am and dozed through pirated episodes of invader zim on YouTube.
there’s this one where, zim, alien who doesn’t eat food gets harrassed and slapped with sandwich meat. this causes a huge burn on his body. he retaliates by fusing the other kid’s DNA with baloney (american foodstuff of meat). anyway now the kid is edible… they both gradually become baloney over the episode. in one moment the non-zim kid gets a chunk eaten out of him for breakfast by his sister.

eating people, that’s just not allowed. it’s there though, a humorous idea usually too. taboo right. yet the catholics do it all the time. apparently everyone is becoming catholic, i have no first person evidence for this. but i don’t know very many people. the news says everyone is becoming celibate but idk if that’s true because i know people who have sex. i haven’t asked about the celibacy. the news also says that i should be fine with people being genocided.
eating jesus, that’s a funny one though, it’s so like… real. like, ur eating me now babe. haha omg jesus ur wild for that.
in resident evil 7 you are force fed rotting human remains. the family who have you captured only eat people. they eat people and fixate on being a family. the mould inside them is obsessed with surviving death. the only way to transcend death and make it into life is to eat the flesh. this is zombie movies and serial killer movies though. that’s what this is. this is the living dead, a parasite looking for a host. monster movie.

having sex yesterday i think i have a biting thing. i know i do, i like biting myself and others. but that’s not so weird considering how common that is. and how often other animals use biting to communicate. holding the body in the mouth with force.
kid covers their eye with a hand, closes it shut, pretends that in their hand is the eye. puts the eye in their mouth. swallows it. pulls it out of their backside. and pops it back in their head. eye open.
my favourite podcast, The Teacher’s Lounge, by Big Grande, have several ongoing bits about one or another of the four teachers having their body eaten by the others in comical, absurd, ridiculous ways. One is barbecued after death, they make fajitas with his feet (fafeetas)… they reflect a few times in their loose playful improvising “here we go with eating each other again!”
yellowjackets, i watched a bit of that, desperate and stranded, some americans eat human flesh. santa clarissa diet, i didn’t watch, but i know it’s about americans eating people, hannibal too, as a concept. that movie flesh and bone, the neon demon… soylent green… a couple of the series of Channel Zero… i could make it a national critique, but really the problem is just American cultural export dominance… what was that one movie Raw. i still gotta see that.
after the long, racist history of cannibalism as a cultural object of fascination and dehumanisation, its shadow now is barely seen as the same ‘thing’ in colonial cultures fascinated by it. that’s the anthropological word, the word for the outsiders. we have oral fixations and death drives, hot serial killers, and the rituals of a major religion, the ever hungry undead.

jenny hval’s ‘paradise rot’ is a novella that embeds itself in a feeling of flesh, and its flowing juices and filmy skins, a person’s interest in these things as intimacy spontaneously, fitfully, fearfully occurs. a central image of fused flesh, of eating another person, of mixing discharges and being awash in urine. it’s great.
i hope to sleep better tonight.
